Visitation of the HEET Project at MUCE
On September 27th, Dr. Kennedy Hosea, the National Coordinator of the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) Project, visited Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE) to assess the progress of the project’s implementation. In his opening remarks, the College Principal, Prof. Deusdedit Rwehumbiza, expressed his gratitude to Dr. Hosea for making time to visit the institution and witness the project, which has currently reached 3% completion.
Prof. Rwehumbiza highlighted that through the HEET project, MUCE will oversee the construction of four major buildings: a Science Building, a Multimedia and Special Needs Education Building, a Students' Hostel and a Physics Laboratory. The contractor is already on-site and has completed the necessary site clearing to commence construction.
In his address, Dr. Hosea urged the College to align additional/future funding applications with the recent national education policy and curriculum amendments. He emphasized the importance of incorporating the government's priorities, including the development of infrastructure and the capacity for teacher training in critical areas. He also suggested that MUCE explore the possibility of becoming a hub for special education in both Tanzania and the East African region.
The event concluded with Dr. Hosea, the College's top management, and MUCE-HEET focal persons visiting the construction sites, guided by QS Geofrey Ngelime, Manager of Estates and Works Management Unit at MUCE.
