COUNSELING UNIT

"Guiding Minds, Nurturing Growth"

At MUCE, the establishment of a counselling unit to enhance student welfare is a key goal outlined in our College Rolling Strategic Plan (RSP) for 2020/2021-2024/2025. Over the past 15 years, our student and staff population has grown significantly, leading to a diverse community with varied needs. This growth necessitates expanded psychosocial services, including counselling, to address the unique challenges faced by our students and staff.

The primary objective of the counselling unit is to foster academic, social, emotional, and personal development. The counselling unit at MUCE is dedicated to achieving the following objectives:

  1. Counselling Services: Offer counselling to students and staff to help them navigate life situations and find appropriate solutions to their challenges.
  2. Orientation Programmes: Plan and facilitate orientation programmes for first-year students in collaboration with the Director of Students’ Services.
  3. Training: Provide training on counselling-related issues for students and staff.
  4. Research: Conduct research on guidance and counselling.
  5. Outreach Programmes: Implement outreach programmes related to counselling.
  6. Networking: Collaborate with other practitioners and agencies for effective counselling programmes and interventions.
  7. Seminars and Workshops: Organise seminars and workshops on counselling for students and staff.
  8. Oversight: Oversee all guidance and counselling services within the College.

The counselling unit is committed to supporting the well-being of our diverse community, ensuring that everyone at MUCE has access to the necessary resources for their holistic development.
