MUCE Hosts Stakeholder Consultation Meeting for the ADVANCE Project
As part of the ADVANCE Project (Advancing Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship through Postgraduate Education in East Africa), MUCE hosted a stakeholder consultation meeting aimed at developing a competency framework for social entrepreneurship.
The ADVANCE Project seeks to enhance social innovation and entrepreneurship in Uganda and Tanzania through a newly developed Postgraduate Diploma programme. This initiative targets systemic challenges such as youth unemployment, underdeveloped SIE ecosystems, and limited academic integration, by building capacity in four partner universities through service learning and experiential methodologies.
The stakeholder meeting convened a diverse group of participants to collaboratively identify and prioritize core competencies essential for impactful and sustainable social entrepreneurship. Suggested areas of focus included leadership, community engagement, impact measurement, digital literacy, and ethical decision-making.
Key outcomes of the meeting included a draft list of competencies, cross-sectoral insights, and actionable recommendations for integrating these competencies into curriculum and training programmes. The results will directly inform the design of the new diploma programme, expected to graduate at least 150 students in its first year, with a strong emphasis on enterprise creation and employment.
MUCE remains committed to empowering future leaders who can drive inclusive development across East Africa.
