MUCE Secures Erasmus Mundus Funding and Signs Multiple Collaboration Agreements

MUCE, through the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, has successfully secured funding from Erasmus Mundus to implement an exchange programme for students and staff between MUCE and the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) in Poland. This programme will involve three (3) students and four (4) staff from MUCE, and two (2) staff from SGH.

Promotion Announcement for Dr. Tiemo Haule and Dr. Edward Mgaya

We are pleased to announce the well-deserved promotion of Dr. Tiemo Haule and Dr. Edward Mgaya from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer.  Dr. Haule is a member of the Department of Geography and Economics and Dr. Mgaya belongs to the Department of History, Political Science and Development Studies. Both are staff members  in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Dr. Ponsiano Kanijo and his Team Launched their Breakthrough Research Project Worth 4.9 Million SEK at University of Gothenburg, Sweden

In a landmark event at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, on May 7, 2024, Dr. Ponsiano Kanijo (MUCE), alongside his esteemed team comprising Dr. Rasmus Bernander from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, Prof. Maud Devos from the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Belgium, and Prof. Dr. Gilles-Maurice de Schryver from Ghent University, Belgium, launched their ambitious research endeavour on Swahili modality.

MUCE celebrated the 2024 Chinese Language Day with myriad of captivating performances

Mkwawa University college of Education (MUCE) hosted an event to commemorate the International Chinese Language Day, which was held on 23th April 2024. The event was attended by MUCE management, led by Prof. Deusdedit A. Rwehumbiza – MUCE Acting Principal, Dr. Zhang Xiaozhen - Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute and MUCE staff and students. The event featured a myriad of captivating performances, with students showcasing their talents in various aspects of Chinese culture.

Dr. Japhace Poncian Secures Grant for Regional Research Project

This collaborative endeavor spans four African countries: Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and the Democratic Republic of Congo

In a significant achievement for our academic community, Dr. Japhace Poncian, a Senior Lectuerer in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, has secured a grant totaling £1,700,000 as part of a pivotal research project focusing on African Extractivism and the Green Transition.
