HEET Contract Signing Ceremony

On August 31, 2024, a significant milestone was reached at Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE) with the signing ceremony for the construction of four new buildings under the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) Project, funded by the World Bank through the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. The buildings include:


1.⁠ ⁠Science Building
2.⁠ ⁠Multimedia and Special Needs Education Building
3.⁠ ⁠Students’ Hostel
4.⁠ ⁠Physics Laboratory

The construction, awarded to M/s Dimetoclasa Real Hope Limited & Mponela Construction and Company Limited, will cost a total of TZS 14.8 billion. During the ceremony, the Acting College Principal, Prof. Deusdedit A. Rwehumbiza, emphasized the need for close supervision by the consultant to ensure the contractor adheres to the timeline and contractual obligations. He also assured that the College is committed to supporting the project to ensure the buildings are completed to the expected standards.

The event was also attended by Prof. William A. L. Anangisye, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dar es Salaam and Chairperson of the MUCE Governing Board, who lauded the management for reaching this stage. He noted that the construction represents a major investment in higher education in Tanzania and will significantly enhance teaching, learning, and research capabilities, aligning with the university's strategic goals outlined in the 2020/21-2024/25 Strategic Plan and UDSM Vision 2061.

This event signals a major step forward for the College and its mission to advance education and research, contributing to the nation’s broader socio-economic development.
