Richard Paul Clement is a Lecturer at Mkwawa University College of Education in Iringa, Tanzania. He is based in the Department of Chemistry, specializing in Organic Chemistry, particularly in Phytochemistry, as well as in Health and Biomedical Sciences. He is currently working on traditional food systems and medicines. In the year 2025, he completed his six-year Analysis of the Maasai Traditional Food System and Ethnomedicine for Health Benefits and Bioactive potential against Gout and Metabolic Disorders at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), Tanzania. Also, in the year 2013, he completed his three-year Phytochemical Investigations and Biological Analyses on Launaea cornuta at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Richard’s research interests include phytochemistry, Health, and Biomedical Sciences. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Life Sciences (Health and Biomedical Sciences) of the NM-AIST; a Master of Science (Marine Sciences) and a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry & Biology) with Education of the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He has experience in teaching Organic Chemistry, Instrumental Methods in Analytical Chemistry, Coordination Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, and Coordinating Chemistry Practical Courses. Before joining the University teaching, Richard worked as a Secondary School Teacher, teaching Science Subjects at Merriwa Secondary School and Jubilee High School in Dodoma, Tanzania.
