The programme covers a wide range of educational courses and minor subject-content components selected from among science subjects. It produces graduates with a good understanding of educational issues in the country, the region and the world at large. Graduates will have a deep understanding of educational principles, possess expertise in their chosen teaching subjects, and uphold professional ethics. They will excel in syllabus analysis, teaching planning, and effective teaching methods while providing guidance and counseling in line with national standards. Graduates will demonstrate leadership skills in education and the broader community, including expertise in curriculum design, teaching methodologies, and education management.

Requirements

Entry requirements: For those with Form VI qualifications, the accepted combinations include PCM, PGM, PCB, CBG, CBA, and CBN. Candidates are required to have a minimum of two passes at the Advanced Level, with at least a 'C' grade, in Science Subjects, such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. The minimum admission requirement for Form VI applicants is set at a total of 4 points, which is determined by the performance in 2 subjects. To meet this criterion, candidates must achieve two principal passes with grades 'E' and above, where the grading scale assigns values as follows: A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2, E = 1, and S = 0.5. Alternatively, applicants with a Diploma in Education that includes Science subjects, recognized by the UDSM Senate and awarded at a minimum of Second Class, can also apply for admission.
