CBC Workshop Highlights at MUCE
📍 10–11 May 2025 | Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE)
As Tanzania advances the implementation of the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) across all levels of education, Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE) continues to play a leading role in aligning teacher preparation with national priorities.
Over the weekend of 10–11 May 2025, MUCE hosted a transformative workshop for curriculum and teaching course instructors, bringing together participants from MUCE, the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE), and the University of Dar es Salaam’s Mwalimu Nyerere Campus. The aim was clear: to ensure coherence in how future teachers are trained in line with the CBC adopted in primary and secondary schools.
The workshop was officially opened by Prof. Jaquiline Amani Moshi, who represented Prof. Method Samwel Semiono, Principal of MUCE. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of consistency across institutions:
“We must speak the same language when preparing future teachers,” she noted.
📚 Workshop Focus Areas Included:
✅ Designing CBC-aligned lesson plans
✅ Understanding learner characteristics and diversity
✅ Harmonizing supervision of teaching practice across institutions
MUCE extends sincere appreciation to the expert facilitators—Dr. Willy Kasuga, Dr. Ibrahim Nzima, and Josta Nzilano—for leading this crucial dialogue and skill-building initiative.
✨ Advancing Teacher Education Reform
The workshop marks an important milestone in strengthening the quality and consistency of teacher education across the University of Dar es Salaam system. MUCE remains committed to producing competent, reflective, and adaptable educators ready to serve the evolving needs of Tanzania’s education sector.
