Dr. David J. Manyerere is a Senior Lecturer in Development Studies with undergraduate studies background in Political Science (International relations) and postgraduate studies in Development Studies (UDSM). His research interests include; Youth and Women Empowerment, Social Capital and Employment, Poverty and Social Protection, and Gender. He has 15+ years’ of experience in teaching undergraduate students in development studies courses and supervision of postgraduate students’ research works. The taught courses cover a variety of topics, including theories of social development, science, technology and innovation, ethics and development, regional integration, gender, democracy and governance. He has been an active researcher and advocator of youth and women issues since he started volunteering initiatives in 2004 with a local non-governmental organisation (Youth Action Volunteers, which eventually transformed into SIKIKA). Before pursuing his postgraduate studies in 2006, he worked as a banker at the National Microfinance Bank (NMB) from 2004-2006. He is currently an advisor and board member to some educational institutions and NGOs including AGEN & AGEN-USA Inc. and Empowerment and Participation for Inclusive Development (EPIDT).
