MUCE Welcomes New Postgraduate Students

On January 6, 2025, the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies at MUCE hosted a Postgraduate Orientation and Capacity Building Session for new postgraduate students. The event, attended by deans, heads of departments, and other invited leaders, provided an essential platform for fostering academic excellence and strengthening postgraduate student engagement at MUCE.

The session was officially opened by Dr. Orestes A. Kapinga, Acting Deputy Principal – Academic, Research, and Consultancy, who represented the College Acting Principal, Prof. Deusdedit A. Rwehumbiza. In his remarks, Dr. Kapinga extended a warm welcome to the new postgraduate students and congratulated them on choosing MUCE, a college celebrated for its numerous strengths, including:

  • Its status as a fast-growing and dynamic institution.
  • A youthful and ambitious academic staff committed to research and innovation.
  • A conducive learning environment enhanced by its strategic location in Iringa, providing easy access to essential services.
  • strong record of timely completion for postgraduate programs.
  • High employability rates among its graduates.

Milestone in Postgraduate Enrollment
Dr. Kapinga highlighted the significant growth in postgraduate enrollment at MUCE for the 2024/2025 academic year. A total of 16 students were enrolled, an increase of eight from the previous year. This upward trend underscores MUCE’s appeal as a leading institution for advanced education in Tanzania.

A Call for Academic Dedication
In his inspiring address, Dr. Kapinga urged the students to embrace the responsibilities that come with postgraduate studies. "As postgraduate students, you are mature individuals who know what you need," he emphasized. "You are researchers. Choose your thesis topic or area of study early and begin your journey to academic discovery."
He encouraged the students to capitalize on the wealth of resources and support available at MUCE, stressing the importance of diligence, discipline, and initiative in their academic pursuits.

Recognizing Excellence
Dr. Kapinga also highlighted the College's commitment to supporting outstanding students. He celebrated the achievement of MUCE’s overall best student from the 16th Graduation Ceremony in 2024, who is now one of the newly enrolled postgraduate students. The College fully sponsors this exemplary student, reaffirming its dedication to nurturing talent and rewarding academic excellence.

The Postgraduate Orientation and Capacity Building Session at MUCE marked an important start to the academic journey of the new postgraduate cohort.
