In a remarkable achievement this year, our brilliant faculty member, Dr. Edson B. Ishengoma, a Lecturer in Zoology, has teamed up with Dr Emília Santos of Cambridge University to secure the prestigious Cambridge – Africa ALBORADA Research Fund 2023. Their groundbreaking project, "Adaptive Genomic Diversity of Tanzanian Riverine Cichlids in Light of Climatic and Anthropogenic Stressors," stood out among 32 selected projects across Africa. Impressively, it's one of just seven from East Africa and only two from Tanzania.

This collaborative effort spans continents and involves fieldwork in Tanzania, sample shipment to the UK, genome sequencing, and collaborative knowledge exchange.
