Biography

Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations and Management. I have a Bachelor of Education in Arts and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Dar es Salaam and a PhD from the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom. I teach the following courses: Foundations of Education, Philosophy of Education, Professionalism and Ethics in Education and Research Methods in Education.

I have been involved in various local and international research projects as a principal and assistant consultant/researcher. 

  • Principal Investigator on the Canadian Organisation for Development through Education (CODE) study of girls' literacy practices in and out of school - 2020-2022; 

  • Co-Principal Investigator on TWAWEZA East Africa's assessment of the state of citizen participation, local governance and service delivery in Tanzania - 2020-2021; 

  • Co-Principal Investigator on HAKIELIMU's assessment of the learning and teaching environment for pre-primary education in Tanzania - 2018-2019; and 

  • Co-Principal Investigator and teacher trainee on five early childhood teacher education courses on the HDIF (UKAid) Mwanzo Mzuri Action Research Project - 2018-2020. The project involves Mkwawa University College of Education, HakiElimu (a Tanzanian-based research and policy advocacy NGO) and VIA University (a Danish public university).
