Dr. Japhace Poncian Secures Grant for Regional Research Project

 

This collaborative endeavor spans four African countries: Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and the Democratic Republic of Congo

 

In a significant achievement for our academic community, Dr. Japhace Poncian, a Senior Lectuerer in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, has secured a grant totaling £1,700,000 as part of a pivotal research project focusing on African Extractivism and the Green Transition.

The project, which extends over a six-year period from March 2024 to March 2029, involves a diverse team of researchers from Canada, Britain, Belgium, South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Dr. Poncian's expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the project's success in exploring critical issues at the intersection of extractivism and sustainability across the African continent.
